Swedish rock music has a tendency to be relatively heavy, and sometimes I find it a little intense, but The Refreshments combination of 50s rock-n-roll music with standard rock makes the genre more appealing and universal. Although the band have had several line up changes over the years, this hasn’t had the negative effect that sometimes happens with these alterations. For instance, when Johan Blohm joined the band, they took the transition to play a few country songs within their sets occasionally, which revitalised their sound.
They opened the show with Miss You Miss Belinda, which of course had everyone singing along straight away. They were great at interacting with the crowd, and had everyone singing and dancing along to the chorus non stop. The energy that the band created was maintained throughout the show and it was so contagious to the audience, so everyone seemed to be having just the best time. They played a great selection of tracks from Banditos, to their older work, and it was all absolutely brilliant, they really are a very talented bunch.
