I saw Ellen Allien perform live at Cocorico in 2013. It was a fantastic experience. She started with slow beats that already had the crowd jumping up and down. The volume slowly rose and got more intense as the crowd whistled and cheered for more. The strange tones of instruments not usually heard in DJ music elevated it to a different level of performance. The drums came in and made things even faster and more dance friendly and the crowd kept giving her love, shouting, clapping, cheering, and dancing with her beats and mixes as she went.
Ellen smiled and put on a lively performance too, spinning her tracks, bouncing along with them. Unlike most male DJ's she did not just stand and spin but clearly showed her love for her work, smiling intensely as she spun her tracks. It made the performance and the music all the more enjoyable to see someone who loved what they were doing up in front of the tables mixing and spinning tracks with love. As the tracks continued the whistles, cheers, and dancing got more intense and everyone fell in love with what Ellen was doing. It was a fantastic show and everyone should see it.
