Natalie MacMaster

Bringing instrumental music to the mainstream is all that this artists Natalie MacMaster is about. This award-winning fiddler from Troy in Inverness Country, Nova Scotia, Canada is one of the best-known musicians for adhering to a traditional fiddle style of playing music. She is always touring, and even played 250 shows in one year. It is no wonder that this fiddler has been joined world tours with performers such as the Chieftains, Faith Hill, Carlos Santana and Alison Krauss.

She demonstrates her virtuosity this evening in the form of pieces such as “David’s Jig” and “Volcanic Jig”, elevating the audience to their feet encouraging them to dance from start to finish. She is one of those artistes who balance feel and musicality so impressively. I spend most of the performance gasping at how good this performer is with her impressive talent. It’s clear that she has put in her 10,000 hours to her trade.

My first time seeing Natalie McMaster but probably not my last. The concert was everything I hoped it would be. Creative and yet bouncy Natalie never stopped moving for more than a few minutes throughout her performance. The music was fantastic. Her husband Donelle Leahy was a superb treat. The special surprise was her children. What great kids and talent to boot. Their little violins in hand played for the audience. Youngest was only 3. All were blessed with tap dancing style. So much talent in one family.

I have seen Natalie about 6 times. Every time I fall in love with her all over again. She does not make it out to Utah and Idaho as much as I would like, but she is a performer I am happy to fly out to see anywhere I can. Looking forward to seeing her kids.
