I saw Ray Wylie at the Rhythm Room and was giddy with delight. The Texas Country singer is fun, talented and a joy to see live. His personality is what truly makes his live shows magical, with songs such as "Screw You, We're From Texas" and "Snake Farm". This also comes across within his vocals. His voice is straight talking and to the point which also coincides with his lyrics. Ray Wylie sings/talks of everyday situations and battles but makes them seemingly less serious and almost comical with his manner and style in which he expresses these stories. Not only are his songwriting skills clever and musically amazing, but his guitar skills are also awesome; they seemed effortless as he was up on stage. In “Drunken Poet’s Dream” he incorporates the use of his harmonica which truly brings his style to life. Ray is great at interacting with the crowd, giving cheeky smiles to even the shyest of fans. This all makes for an awesome musical experience and one that I would highly recommend. His songs are easy listening with folk vibes interacted within them and soft, smooth melodies.
Fans of Ray Wylie should know what to expect when coming to one of his shows. As he says himself, he is 'a bit of an acquired taste' but certainly one that is worth acquiring.
With a career that spans decades, Ray Wylie has anecdotes and stories to spare. This show was the 3rd time I've seen him in the last 9 months or so, and he sticks to a pretty basic formula. Him, his son Lucas, and the drummer play a very similar set-list every time. Snake Farm fans, don't worry, it's his second song. What really makes his hows are his jokes and stories. Many are repeated night after night, but sometimes there are new ones. And they are worth it. Even the ones I've heard over and over are hilarious. Ray Wylie is a character, period. Buy a ticket to one of his shows and you get a hell of a concert, and a comedy show for free.
Excellent concert!
This was my wife and my first time seeing Ray Wylie and our second time to the Granada Theater.
He started on time and had a great repore with the audience immediately. His performance was excellent and the banter between songs, explaining the story behind the, was amusing and very informative.
We learned a lot about him, played all of his many hits and, even though the band was a three piece, they were very good. Especially, his son, Lucas, playing lead guitar and giving homage to SRV throughout the evening.
We had an exceptional time and will look forward to seeing him again soon! A definite joy to watch and listen to.
Saw Ray at a special concert in Oak Cliff , Tx. We went to High School together. Was H S reunion time. Texas Theater. What a wonderful, fun and memorable time! The show was exceptional and meaningful. Great performance! Singing, humor, and recognized genius of this man. Great interaction with the audience. Met with the singer; writer after the show and was remembered as a friend. What a heart warming time as we were all at “home” again!

This was an amazing show! Ray Wylie Hubbard's lead guitarist (his son Lucas) plays a wailing blues, he was having a blast and made the crowd go wild. RWH writes lyrics that make you laugh and cry, and he played a nice lengthy set. Hope he comes back to Springfield! Go see him, you won't be disappointed.
I've been to RWH concerts many times & he never disappoints. Love the music & the stories. Love his son on the guitar. I would have flown from Texas to Vegas to see his show at the Golden Nugget in December if I wasn't already booked on a cruise.
I've seen RWH twice last year, once in Dallas, once in Waco, both shows were Fantastic, He interacts with the crowd and makes you feel like you are personal friends with him he did several old hits and songs from his new release Excellent shows
One of the greatest. Seen him in a packed out show in Atlanta. Elbow room only. Saw him twice in Macon. Super both times. Just waiting for him to play Columbus, Ga. What a rocking bluesman in Americana style. A song writing genius.
I love Ray Wylie. He’s always great. And a free show is always great but it had to be pg and I did miss his racier songs. I’d do it again, even in the 90 degree heat.
