Nine Black Alps has always been a favorite band of mine. With their screaming guitars, roaring bass, and droning of the crowd, this band makes itself right at home on stage. The band has a very nonchalant feel and vibe as they trudge through their set. The members sip on beer and slouch as they rock out their alternative rock jams.
Their appearance and presence, however, is very deceiving as these guys really play some awesome music and flawlessly, at that. Their casual guitar riffs with evil sounding guitar licks thrown in are reminiscent of a 90's Nirvana sound, delving deep into the world of grunge.
The crashing cymbals, and massive reverb on the guitar rock through the crowd as everybody bangs their head and dances around the venue. Although they have a dark and dirty sound to their grungy rock, they manage to have a melodic edge that gives their music a somewhat happy and upbeat mood to it.
Towards the end of the show they play a couple heavier songs - Shot Down and Cosmopolitan, that get the crowd going into a mosh pit. The energy is great and the ending to this show was very cool with the aggression and spirit of rock and roll.
