Far & away one of the best shows I've experienced. It may have been my first time, but I can guarantee you it won't be my last - or the rest of the sold-out crowds.
This 7-piece rock/soul band out of New Orleans actually rocked my soul with their unique musical stylings on their Men Amongst Mountains Tour.
Classifying their sound as rock/soul doesn't properly highlight this multi-dimensional band. Their authentic sound is built upon a foundation of rock and soul but with undertones throughout tracks that hit on jazz, R&B, reggae-roots, funk, and indie folk - this band is sure to be a hit with most genres of music lovers.
Their unique sound is brought to life through a stacked roster of talent. From the vocals, to guitar, saxaphone, pedal steel guitar, bass, drums, keys & trumpet - they have it all. Never have I seen a more individually talented group where each member is highlighted and showcases equal amounts of stage presence and charisma.
The show flowed effortlessly taking me on an emotional journey with the band. Each track feeling different than the others but tied together with a common thread of both gritty & smooth. Still my favorite song, "It Was a Sin", touched me to my core. Between the smoother tracks like "Soulfight", "Keep Going" & "Fade Away" and the grittier "All in the Family" & "Bulletproof" - it was impossible for anyone in this sold out crowd to walk away without the feels.
If you're looking for a musical journey that touches your soul & leaves you on a high, The Revivalists are for you.
It’s not every day that you see a mainstream 7-piece jam band complete with trumpet and saxophone hit the road, but similar to the likes of Moon Taxi and The Wild Feathers, the New Orleans based Revivalists deliver the enthusiastic twang of a southern alt rock band playing with a genuine and undeniably innate sense of rhythm.
For such a big outfit, the guys are close yet comfortable on stage, each ingratiating himself inconspicuously before coming together as a group both mentally and musically for the drop. Vocalist David Shaw’s rough yet rich delivery is at times reminiscent of Ray LaMontage’s husky but passionate tone (especially when he’s stripped down with only a guitar). Shaw not only genuinely inflects his commitment to the song using his powerful voice, but also through his onstage presence, fumblingly calculatedly around onstage while continuously encouraging the crowd and interacting with the front row die-hards.
The unrelenting saxophone, along with the trumpet, pierce the melody, adding to the highly energetic and involving performance; it’s exactly what you’d expect from a 7-piece jam band.
With an EP and two albums under their belt, including a 2014 re-release of the two-disc City of Sound, The Revivalists offer a grand, one-of-a-kind musical experience, continuously touring North America with the entire band in tow.
I went to the show at The Anthem in Washington, DC this weekend. The Revivalists were phenomenal. They sounded as good, or BETTER, 'Live' than any recording I've heard of them. A friend got me interested in them a little over a year ago, and I've been listening to their music every day since. I had tickets this summer to their Wolf Trap show, but had to give them up for a family emergency. I was so disappointed that I had to miss the show. As the January tickets became available, I counted the days until this event. I had box seats and a perfect view. The Revivalists sound was so outstanding, I never stopped dancing, or singing for the entire show! Their music is intoxicating, and their showmanship was fabulous. As their set ended, I couldn't believe this great feeling was about to be over. Until, they came out for the encore songs! Hell Yeah! Best show I've ever been to!
The revivalists put on a great show Friday night at the White River State Park in Indianapolis Indiana. We had tickets for the pit area, and with my husband being in a wheelchair, we had a great view of the stage and of the live performance. There was a lot of energy amongst the fans and everyone was having a great time. David Shaw was full of energy and it electrified the audience. It was one of my favorite concert that I've attended. Marcus King performed a song with the revivalists and it added to the excitement. It was a great show!
Great show! Shockingly solid rap angel.
Stop opening and start headlining! I went to see the Revivalists only, stayed for the 1st half of of Umprees Magee and was completely convinced that I went to see the right band.
You killed it.
Fox sound system - you can stop with the muddy treatment of the opener. Its silly, everyone know you do it. Like you can't dial it in until the headliner. Cmon be better than that.
Would see the Revivalist again for sure.
As always the Revivalists did not disappoint! The set list was unreal and D shaw rocked with the crowd and made sure we were "dancing like no one was watching!" They played Monster which hadn't been on a set list in a while and is a personal favorite of my group so we were in 7th Heaven. I've seen them 4 times this year and it seems they keep getting better and building on each performance, very cool to see. Keep up the rocking boys and we'll keep showing up!
ABSOLUTELY, The BEST show ever! If you haven't seen The Revivalists Live, your not living. They are so energatic and really get the crowd involved. I've seen them twice and will see them again and again. Watching Rob play and spin the sax around like a baton is mind blowing! Not only does David Shaw have one of the greatest voices, he clearly loves performing and feeds that love to the crowd! Can't wait for them to come around again.
The revivalists are a phenomenal band musically and terrific showmen. They write songs that are soulful and easy to sing along to. You will enjoy their music on the radio/albums but you do not get the true essence of this band until you see them live. You will fit in at their concert whether you’re 16 or 60. They put all their energy into every show and will not disappoint!
Great show! I love this band and they are SO good live. The setlist was honestly pretty disappointing to me. I didn't feel like they played any of their top hits, a lot of the Men Amongst Mountains songs that I love weren't played (sad). But still a GREAT show!! Would see them again in a heartbeat.
