BOMB ASS SHOW.
First of all,let me point out that the openers were definitely worthy of doing so for Khemmis. Shout out to Abrams (bought a CD, only because we don't yet have a record player), and Spirit Adrift (REALLY digging the stuff from their latest,"Curse of Conception", you should check it out!). Both these bands not only put out some really good music, they did so without looking awkward about it. Confidence is important when you're on stage.
Khemmis, of course, are pros, and it showed. They opened with "Above the Water", a perfect show opener if i ever heard one. When they played "Three Gates", all moshing broke loose, and from then on it was wall to wall music and noise and sound. They closed with"The Bereaved", a perfect closer.
In short, from beginning to end, including the choice of accompanying acts, this was a really well crafted performance.
A few ancillary things: if you've never been there, the Hi-Dive is fairly small, but Khemmis is well known and loved in their hometown of Denver: the place was packed about as tight as it could get. We didn't pre-purchase tickets, and I'm here to tell you, that was a very risky choice. You've been warned.
Thanks for a great show; Denver loves you back!
It was a pleasure to see Khemmis live at the Decibel Tour on Irving Plaza (a doom metal band from Denver, Colorado) - personally, I really enjoy their music ; I've been a fan of Khemmis and doom metal for quite some time now, and getting the chance to see them live was just awesome!! I totally would attend another venue with Khemmis playing live! It was also really dope that after Khemmis played a few of their cool tracks, Myrkur happened to go live, as well as Wolves in the Throne Room, and finally of course, Enslaved! Absolutely awesome!
