I saw Chris Smither at the High Noon Saloon and it was a wonderful experience. It really opened my eyes up to American folk and blues music. I went along with my father who is hugely into this genre of music and to be honest I don't think I'll ever look back. Chris Smither is unique, a blues masterpiece. His songs are heartfelt and magical and his voice oozes with gentleness and sensitivity. If seeing a blues musician is on your bucket list then definitely give Chris Smither a try. His voice is dusky, husky and you can tell he is a veteran of his art. He has a soft style, which is easy to listen to and pleasurable to hear. The beautiful melodies he creates lingered in my ears for weeks after. "Leave the Light On" was my ultimate favourite of the night, the lyrics were so soft and beautiful.
His guitar skills are epic and each pluck of the string is achieved with love and passion for the subjects of which eh sings about. He interacts with the audience some what by looking at each of us, observing, acknowledging and for the lucky few he looked deep into their eyes so I can imagine they must have felt abrupt with emotion.
