Went to see Nile Rodgers and Chic at Iveagh Gardens on 9th July 2015, and was once again blown away by the performance by one of the greatest live acts in the world. Nile treats his concerts as s very personal thing and acknowledges the effort of concert goers and shares his love with us all.
A polished performance from only the best musicians and top quality vocalists. Even they, Kimberly and Folami, give it so much, that it's difficult to imagine that they're doing this day in, day out. Their honey coated vocals accompanied by their beaming smiles, makes everyone feel this concert is especially for them.
Nile is a legend, and doesn't spare himself. Everybody was dance dance dancing, everybody was there, no sign of stage fright and truly deserving of a sell out. Even though he could sell out arenas, I'd encourage anyone to get to see Nile Rodgers and Chic at one of these smaller 3 to 5000 capacity venues to experience the intimate nature of the gig and get to feel connected with someone who lived the 70's New York life, and all that goes with it.
Mother's Finest are you mothers finest funk band. Funking out of America back in 1970's, the group are soul catchers in the funk scene. They trap your soul and twist and turn it into a funky machine pumping along to the sounds of the expressive jazz funk coming to you live from Mother's Finest.
Funk live is nothing better, hence why many house sets now include disco/funk beats and hooks because it draws in the crowd and creates a happy feel good atmosphere. The voice of Joyce Baby Jean Kennedy is so moving and touching it brings the house down in just one simple note. The band all come together with their instruments and perform remarkable sets. They deliver you the best hits like 'Baby Love,' 'I Can't Believe,' and 'Love Changes,' being just a few to name, I could name more.
They are touring Germany extensively so any German fans of funk and soul, put down your German sausages and buy a ticket whilst the rest of us have to wait for them to hopefully tour near us. I personally am hoping for a gig in London somewhere, that would be ideal!
