Espinoza Paz wrote his first song at age 11 and by the time he was 13 he had written around 20 songs. He really started to delve into music composition when he used the money that his father had given him to buy his first guitar. Before Paz had a career break in the music industry he relocated to the United States living in California and Oregon for a while, but he later returned home to Mexico to focus on songwriting. Most of his songwriting is based on personal experiences, and quite a few of his songs were inspired by his “California muse”, Blanca Estrella. Before breaking into the mainstream, Paz played in numerous regional bands where he honed his skills as a performer.
Paz was able to achieve commercial success when he showed the Sinaloan banda singer, El Coyote, some of his songs that El Coyote would help him record. Some of these songs that El Coyote recorded for Paz, which became big hits include: “Besitos En El Cuello”, “Prohibido”, and “Para Impresionarte”. Paz also caught the attention of Martin Fabian, who is well known in the music and radio industry. The two then began working on Paz’s debut album, “Paz En Tu Corazon”, which was released in 2007. After releasing one other independent album, Paz was offered a record contract with Universal Latino. Through this label he released his major label debut “El Canta Autor Del Pueblo”, which achieved platinum status and reached the No. 11 position on the Billboard Latin Albums chart.
In 2009 Paz released the album “Yo No Canto, Pero Lo Intentamos”, which contained the singles “Lo Intentamos” and “Ponte En Mi Lugar”. The album contains elements of Latin pop as well as traditional banda music. The music on the album features upbeat songs with heavy use of horns and accordions. The album charted on the US Billboard 200 and also reached the No. 1 spot on the US Billboard Top Latin Albums. Paz has proven himself to be a prolific songwriter. Just one year after his second studio album he released his third studio album “Del Rancho Para el Mundo”, which received a Grammy nomination, and a year after that he released his fourth studio album “Canciones Que Duelen” in 2011. “Canciones Que Duelen” reached the top of the Billboard’s Latin Albums and Regional Mexican Albums charts as well as contained the single “Para No Perderte”.
Apart from his work as a solo performer, Espinoza Paz has appeared as a coach on the Mexican version of the reality show “The Voice” as well as collaborated with several artists including David Bisbal, Maria Jose, and Paulina Rubio. Paz is also notable for his live performances and has had success touring Mexico and the United States.
162) Espinoza Paz With Grammy Award nominations under his belt, Espinoza Paz the Mixican singer/songwriter has an incredibly successful career ahead of him. Seeing him live in performance, it is evident that he’s been writing music from an early age. The ease at which he journeys through his songs, with his guitar acting as an extension of himself, is incredible and exciting.
Paz is a born entertainer, and had the crowd laughing from the moment he walked on stage. His engaging personality strives to get the entire audience involved, and even in a huge venue like the one he played at, he managed to get everyone up on their feet dancing and singing along for most of the show. He opened the show with El Culpable which was awesome and a great way to kick start the evening. About half way through the night, he played Te Deje, and selected a lady from the audience to get up on stage with him, and sang and danced with her. It was hilarious and brilliant, the way that he showed his appreciation for his fans was touching.
The charisma that Paz puts into his music is fantastic, and his banter with the audience kept everyone engaged really well. Everyone seemed to love the evening, not one to miss.
