Maarten's first piece of action began back in 2006, when Bingo Players was born by Dutch DJs Maarten Hoogstraten and Paul Bäumer. They signed to their own record label Hysteria records and got to work on what would be a break through in electronic fused dance music. Their career has been short but sweet, little but effective. They haven't seen much chart action but their dance music originates from Disclosure and later sounding Swedish House Mafia.
Tragically the band had a major defining moment in 2013 when the other half of Bingo Players, Paul announced via Facebook that he was a victim of cancer. Only months after been diagnosed Paul died of his horrible illness leaving Maarten to take to the stage alone.
Maarten has carried the torch high and played thousands of shows now for the last year completely solo, with Paul in his heart and spiritually there on the decks. I's remarkable and heart lifting to hear their music and watch the live sets knowing that Maarten plays with twice as much passion now.
With everything bad comes something good and that would be the case as around the same time as Pauls passing, Bingo players snatched up their first number one single 'Knock You Out,' in the US dance chart.
If you are prepared to hear the most colossal drops in dance music and get your head nodding with enthusiasm, a Bingo Players concert is the place for you. In a heart-warming display of courage, Maarten Hoogstraten, originally one half of the Dutch-based dance duo, has agreed to carry on with the Bingo Players project despite the tragic passing of musical partner Paul Bäumer, and you can be sure that he is ready to blow the world away in dedication to Paul in concerts all over the globe. With the combination of futuristic-like graphics on display and everyone dancing in time to the brilliantly-mixed tunes, you will feel like you've just stepped into the world's greatest nightclub with none other than Maarten as the resident host. Not only will you get a mix of some of the best anthems, you will also be able to hear original Bingo Players tunes mixed by the man himself, including Knock You Out, Out Of My Mind and Rattle, a collaboration with Far East Movement and Bingo Players' first number one single in the UK.
The amount of energy that channels from the speakers into the crowd is phenomenal and will keep you dancing for hours. Just beware of the mosh pits suddenly erupting all around you and enjoy the danceland paradise – a definite not miss for dance and techno lovers and clubbers out there.
