Deep Sea Diver does indie rock with precision. Their sound is clean and the group’s immense talent is obvious from the opening bars of any of their songs. Jessica Dobson’s vocals are edgy and soulful, bobbing perfectly on top of the band’s upbeat melodies and bouncing rhythms.
The band has toured extensively up and down the US West Coast, spreading their catchy sound and winning fans wherever they go. All of the band members are natural performers but Jessica Dobson stands out front and centre as a star. She attacks lyrics with a confidence and energy you can’t help but love. She’s fantastic on piano but killer on guitar. Seriously, you need to listen to some of this woman’s riffs – so so good.
I have absolutely no doubt that Deep Sea Diver is going places and their music will be mainstream in no time; you just can’t help but love their sound. Definitely go and see them live while they’re touring and listen out for “One By One”, “Always Waiting” and “Juno Song”. All three are big crowd pleasures and musically impressive songs, which the band always plays with an insane technical precision. You have been warned of their awesomeness.
Shambles!!
They played 55 mins of scheduled 75 minute set because they ran up against the curfew. This was after allowing two (mediocre at best) support bands to start late and overrun their time.
As well as playing a short set, they were plagued by technical problems which interrupted the set on two occasions.
Pity, because it could have been a great gig on the basis of what they did play.
(This relates to gig at QMU 16/6/23).
