Trixie Whitley is a real talent. Powerful, swooning, crooning, her voice is astounding, full of depth of tone that makes her an incredible performer. At the White Rabbit Cabaret in Indianapolis, her dynamic set captivated the audience moving from her signature bluesy, electronic sound to moments of quietness, with just her sat at the piano. It was her voice that stole the show, filling the room with such a massive and full sound that was impossible not to be totally captivated by the belgian multi-instrumentalist. Her voice is at times delicate and soulful, then it is sultry and raunchy, combined with real instrumental talent. "Never Enough" was a highlight, oozing in a bluesy swagger, with a romping energy that pulsated throughout the track. "Pieces" was a jazzy, soul-drenched track that showcased her vocal range, straining and cracking in moments of passion and heightened emotion. "A Thousand Thieves" had a rousing chorus that evoked a sense of determination that is evident in Whitley's music. A determination to achieve success on her own terms, through playing music that she would want to listen to and this is definitely something she seems to have achieved. She is a captivating performer, holding the audience ransom to an emotional set that forces introspection, as well as complete awe at her talents.
