I saw Ray Wylie at the Rhythm Room and was giddy with delight. The Texas Country singer is fun, talented and a joy to see live. His personality is what truly makes his live shows magical, with songs such as "Screw You, We're From Texas" and "Snake Farm". This also comes across within his vocals. His voice is straight talking and to the point which also coincides with his lyrics. Ray Wylie sings/talks of everyday situations and battles but makes them seemingly less serious and almost comical with his manner and style in which he expresses these stories. Not only are his songwriting skills clever and musically amazing, but his guitar skills are also awesome; they seemed effortless as he was up on stage. In “Drunken Poet’s Dream” he incorporates the use of his harmonica which truly brings his style to life. Ray is great at interacting with the crowd, giving cheeky smiles to even the shyest of fans. This all makes for an awesome musical experience and one that I would highly recommend. His songs are easy listening with folk vibes interacted within them and soft, smooth melodies.
