At first glance, Mason Jennings may not look like the kind of guy capable of delivering such amazing vocals. Look can be deceiving though, because he really has an amazing voice that delivers on the cliché of soothing the soul.
He has done a wide variety of performances, including many on radio shows that feature stripped down versions of his songs with only vocal and unaltered acoustical elements. Even without anything extra, the music is truly enjoyable and makes for a really great listen.
Beyond the catchy rhythms and all of that, there are also some great stories behind the music that make it easy to listen to them over and over again.
The majority of his stage performances are rather simplistic in nature, mostly just featuring Jennings along with some background musicians. He comes out in somewhat modest attire, clearly not trying to impress anyone but still looking plenty good for his fans. His acoustic guitar and attached harmonica make it obvious he is ready to go straight into the music, and he definitely delivers on that assumption with a great show. He may not have fancy lights or explosions to impress people looking for that stuff, but the quality music and stories are far more fulfilling than any gimmicky effects could ever be.
