Heidi Talbot and Boo Hewerdine

Another excellent evening of music from Heidi Talbot, her band and guests. We were disappointed at the original cancellation of the concert, but the re-arranged concert was worth the wait. We have seen Heidi on several occasions over the last couple of years and as always she did not fail to deliver. Supported by her genius of a husband, John McCusker and several others, including a personal favourite of mine, Louis Abbot, the audience were treated to some brilliant songs and performances.
Heidi always manages to reach that level that many entertainers can only hope to achieve and some of yj=he numbers were spectacular. I would advise anyone to get tickets and go along and see Heidi and enjoy one of the best performers on the 'folk' scene currently.
One very minor moan, St Andrews in the Square really need to look to get their electricity bill paid, so they can actually put the heating on!

Brooks Williams is probably the best guitarist around that your not listening to.
The show at The Blue Boar hotel in Maldon Essex UK was just amazing. Brooks has personal connections to the area and so it was to a warm and receptive home crowd he played.
The sound at the venue was exceptional which added positively to the experience.
Brooks plays a southern blues style singing his own songs born from a life of experience on the road.
He played three guitars on the night, a lovely Jumbo acoustic that filled the room with a full warm sound, a Resonator for the boogie and the super three string Cigar Box guitar made by Randy Rooster guitars here in the UK.

During the break and after the show he was happy chatting with the public, selling his great CD's (you should all have a few in your collection) and signing.

At one point the Mic stand broke up leading to a 'Freddy Mercury' moment of the Mic on a short stick.

Brooks is very personable and an amazing player/singer/songwriter. If you like your acoustic and slide blues, with a touch of pathos along the way, your in the right room.
10/10 every time. Chris
