Kristin Chenoweth

Like many musical folks that hail from the southern states of America, Kristin Chenoweth's earliest forays into music came while performing gospel songs at her local church gatherings in her home town of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Those experiences gave her a passion for performing that only got stronger as she got older, and all throughout her school career she participated in as many school plays as she could, and when she reached college age, she attended Oklahoma City to complete a degree in musical theatre in 1990.

Throughout her time in college she also performed in a lot of regional theatre, building up a vast portfolio of work that meant that when she auditioned for her first professional role in 1993, she won the part. For the rest of the decade she continued to work relentlessly, and in 1997, she got the role that would garner her first New York Times review, Hyacinth in Moliere's “Scapin”. In the same year she made her Broadway debut in Kander & Ebb's “Steel Pier” and continued to garner glowing reviews for her performances, but she truly became a headline attraction in her own right in 1999.

She garnered a Tony and a Drama Desk award for her turn as Sally Brown in the Broadway revival of “You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown”, and this Broadway stardom turned to regular stardom in 2003 after originating one of the lead roles in the musical “Wicked”, arguably the most successful music of the 21st century. Ever since then, she's remained a star of the stage and the screen, taking roles in the likes of Pushing Daisies, The West Wing and Glee, on stage in “The Apple Tree” and “Promises, Promises” while releasing solo albums and touring her own stage show all the while. She's a true triple threat in the old-school sense in the world, whose talent is only matched by her work ethic, and for that, she comes highly recommended.
