The Aristocrats

I’ve been to a lot of gigs over the years, but The Aristocrats left a genuinely unforgettable impression. All three of them are world class, but on the night I saw them, Marco Minnemann and Guthrie Govan in particular were on another level.

I’ve seen many of the big names in guitar like Petrucci, Yngwie and Satriani, and while it always comes down to taste, this was the first time I was genuinely left speechless by the level of musicianship. Watching them online doesn’t fully capture it. In person it is not just the precision and feel, it is all the subtle nuance. The touch, dynamics, articulation and small musical decisions are much harder to pick up on video.

Guthrie especially was just mind blowingly good. His improvisation skills are second to none, nothing short of absolutely ridiculous. I was pretty much glued to him all night in typical arms folded guitar player fashion and there was not so much as a hair out of place throughout. Completely dialled in.

But with all the compliments to the musical performance aside, they are actually very entertaining, funny and do not take themselves too seriously. That makes it surprisingly accessible even if you are not familiar with them or have never really listened to jazz fusion.

An incredible performance from start to finish.

As expected The Aristocrats were great, the skill of these three are bare none. I will say that these guys deserve a better venue, Fitzgerald's crowd is always a bit of a crap shoot.

If you haven't taken the time to listen to Guthrie on any level, you should, he's one of my favorite guitarists of our lifetime.

As a side note, Travis Lawson band ALSO killed it, and I had an extremely good time!

First time seeing the band and so glad I did. Come back to San Antonio! The amount of talent those guys possess is impressive. I’m a huge John 5 fan, but Guthrie just might be faster on those licks. Marco killed it on drums and Bryan tore it up on bass. Crowd participation was encouraged throughout the show which made it more fun to be there. 5 stars, check them out!

These guys are good, way better than you think they are from what you have seen online. I mean completely another level live! They have a very humble view of themselves and do not take themselves as seriously as their fans do. They take their art seriously, and thus they have lots of fun on stage and it carries over to the audience.

Stunning. What these guys do on their instruments should not be possible. Besides having astounding playing ability, these guys have great showmanship, introducing each song with a funny anecdote that inspired it.

What a great evening! These guys are the best there is it was a privilidge
to see them live. They are all individually virtuosos and together a brilliant tight outfit that takes some beating!

Best musicians and best audiences made it the best! Truely, they are the most talented musicains I have ever known in my entire life. Kick ASS!

Just perfect. I really wanted to see Mr Guthrie Govan as I play guitar for 10 years now. But I really was mindblown bu Marco. The Aristocrats are just the best of the best
