The show was the most accurate representation of Near Eastern music being performed by Americans who have no ancestry in Anatolia, the Armenian Highlands, the Caucuses, or the Middle East.

As an Armenian whose grandparents survived the Armenian Genocide in what is Turkey today, I felt as if the music carried me through a time warp to be taken the late 19th century near my homeland (the Armenian Highlands).
