The extremes of dubstep are fascinating things. Few genres of music go quite so far in the opposite direction, on one extreme you have the hyper atmospheric night bus music that sounds like the beating heart of an empty city in the dead of midnight… and on the other you have Skrillex. The other interesting part is that Dubstep music in the mainstream isn’t a fusion of those two extremes as it is for most other genres, it’s one or the other. However, in the form of Kevin McAuley, otherwise known as Pangaea, we have an artist tackling the fusion of both extremes and doing it impeccably well. How well, I hear you ask? The answer is in his live show. The man’s brand of post-dubstep can send an audience just as thrillingly bezerk as any brostep meltdown without sacrificing any of the depth and atmosphere that makes dubstep worth listening to without a roomful of people losing their minds around you. Few people in the Electronic music scene can match the mastery he has of his chosen art and the sheer control he exerts of every audience he performs for. It’s a treat for any discerning clubber and comes highly recommended.
