The band began with lead vocalist Natalie Horler, who made her live debut at the age of 17 performing live in jazz clubs, bars and casinos around her home town of Bonn, West Germany. As her musical tastes changed, she found herself seeking out collaborations with DJ's and producers instead of performing live, and it was during this period where she met her fellow Cascada band-mates Manuel Reuter (otherwise known as Manian) and Yann Peifer (Yanou). Eventually, the trio worked together on the same track, and hit it off so much that they decided to work together full time as a band, taking the name Cascade for themselves. However, soon after their live debut a fellow producer by the name of Kaskade threatened legal action based on how similar their names were, and so Reuter, Peifer and Horler changed their band name to Cascada in response.
Soon after the name change they signed to Andorfine Records and released their first singles, “Miracle” and “Bad Boy”. The latter song was their first genuine hit and attracted the attention of the American dance music label Robbins Entertainment, who signed them at the end of 2004. In August 2005, their second single “Everytime We Touch” became a colossal hit all over the world, with Gold and Platinum certifications in no less than six countries. Ever since then, the band have continued to be one of the most commercially successful trance acts in the world, with 30 million physical records sold and a further 15 million digital downloads to match. For being the first exposure that many music fans have to the weird and wonderful world of techno, Cascada come highly recommended.
Absolutely amazing night from start to finish. I will defo be attending the next event can't wait. What a way to end the year, banging tunes and brilliant atmosphere, well done guys. Smashed it again.
It’s nice, sometimes, when artists don’t beat around the bush with their stage names and instead christen themselves in a manner that immediately reveals to the listener what they’re all about; credit’s due, then, to Ultrabeat, who give you a pretty clear idea from the very get go that you should be expecting high-tempo dance music, and little else. The Liverpudlian trio hail from Liverpool, having formed in 2002 after having met through DJ’ing in clubs like the legendary Cream and bonding over a shared love of happy hardcore, they first made an impression on the UK charts with ‘Pretty Green Eyes’ in 2003, which went in at number two on the singles rundown. They’ve never quite topped that since, but their two records to date - Ultrabeat: The Album in 2007 and The Weekend Has Landed in 2009 - have both fared well commercially and among the dance scene that Ultrabeat are so steeped in. Additionally, their live sets have won them acclaim from fans and critics alike, and they remain active across the UK and Europe, mixing intimate club sets with huge festival slots to this day; don’t rule out a return to chart success just yet, with plenty still left in the Ultrabeat tank.
One day, I will meet you at the concert if I get a chance.
I pray to God have mercy in our souls getting to meet each other in person.
Ben Nicky has to be one of the best DJ's that i've seen in recent years. He is an absolute demon on the decks recommend him to anyone. The O2 Glasgow is also an excellent venue.
A NIGHT TO REMEMBER HAD BY ALL
In terms of mainstream dance crossovers, they probably haven’t come too much bigger, this past decade or so, than Cascada. It’s not that the German trio have reinvented the wheel - far from it, with their brand of Eurodance a pretty familiar one for anybody who’s ever switched on a chart-oriented radio station during the summer on that continent - but their interpolation of pop influences has made them hugely successful commercially, having sold an estimated thirty million records worldwide, and an estimated fifteen million single downloads racked up over the course of just ten years, too. Key to their success is frontwoman Natalie Horler, who - in the public eye at least - is Cascada, a real pop star in her own right. She’s the real bedrock of the live show for Cascada, too, an engaging performer who’s also more than capable of replicating her impressive recorded vocals on stage. The trio’s last UK tour, as part of Clubland Live 3 in 2009, saw them sharing the bill with the likes of N-Dubz and Darren Styles; the fact that they were playing arenas was a huge boon for Cascada, who were able to harness some impressive lighting to really bring their club bangers to life.
DJ Darren Styles is one for the dance and pop music fans who want a good night out with plenty of jumping and dancing around. Basshunter-esque the DJ from Essex tries hard to put a show on for his audience of mostly late teens and early twenty year old fans.
Adopting more of a 'trance' style now, the DJ still produces records worth a dance and a listen but now with an edge. The slower paced beats but underlying dance fusion and catchy lyrics means you can incorporate all of your senses at his live gigs.
Darren is humble and happy, pleasing the crowd and teasing them with his well known songs and surprising them with new tracks. He keeps the crowd on their toes and this is what makes him unique.
If fist pumping, swaying and jumping to heavy beats is your thing then Darren Styles is the DJ for you. The explosion of beats and synths with is clever song writing ability creates a magical atmosphere at hi live gigs. He’ll be leaving you wanting more and more, with his infectious tunes left in your ears for weeks after.
