After being involved in worship groups since the age of 15, Matt Redman released his first studio album in 1993, when he was 19 years old. Right off the bat, “Wake Up Your Soul” was a hit in the UK worship music circuit, but by the end of the decade he’d began making music in the USA, where he became an institution after the turn of the century. This was helped by Christian artists like Jeremy Camp, Rebecca St. James, Tree63 and Hillsong United covering songs of his, along with his tireless charity efforts and active work as a worship leader around the world.
Since 2002’s “Where Angel’s Fear To Tread” he’s had a devoted following across the pond. He’s had his albums reach number one on the Billboard Songs chart, performed to thousands and thousands of people, and even won two Grammy awards in 2013 for his song “10’000 Reasons (Bless The Lord)”. With a whopping ten Dove Awards to his name, along with a top twenty hit single in the form of 2012’s “Twenty Seven Million”, Matt Redman remains a songwriter who could touch the hearts and minds of anyone, regardless of whether they’re a believer or not. For that, he comes highly recommended.
When I saw Matt Redman in concert, I took my 2 oldest children. I felt that seeing him would be a family experience. I was right.
The music was so uplifting. When they announced Matt Redman to the stage, there seemed to be a wave of applause come over the crowd. He came out with his guitar and immediately started to play. It was amazing. He really knows how to play to the audience. On the stage with him was a giant screen that played the words as he was singing. It was amazing how much the audience sang along. We were on our feet until the very end. My children were so impressed by this performance that they are looking forward to the next one.
Matt Redman is so down to earth and he sings with his heart. I cannot say that I have a favorite song that he sang because I enjoyed every one. At this particular event, there was a scripture service that went with it. Matt was basically the one in the spotlight. I never thought that I would enjoy this type of concert or that my kids would enjoy it. Boy was I wrong. This has to be the best family concert I have ever attended. I highly recommend going and seeing him when he comes to your town.
