Biografía
Lorin grew up in a San Francisco and initially found a love of the visual arts rather than music, creating movies with his dad’s camera when he was just 10 years. Bassnectar's original musical influences included metal and rock bands such as Metallica, Megadeth and Nirvana so some may find it hard to believe that he pursued an electro/drum & bass career but those early influences are still evident on tracks such as 'Seek & Destroy' and 'Boomerang'. A real reason he became affiliated with the genre was due to his enjoyment of raves in the mid-90's, where he found the house/dance vibes so exciting and inspiring that he began to create his own brand of genre bending electro and has continued to develop on these founding inspirations ever since.
He cut his teeth on the house party circuit of San Francisco's Bay Area under the name DJ Lorin, this basement quality is still evident in his live mixing qualities today. Bassnectar is famed for his live performances and light shows. In 2005, he began touring constantly in the States as well as all over the world, these included a regular stop at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 as well a special performance each New Year's Eve. His performance for New Year's Eve 2011 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville sold out to 13,000 fans+, and a sequel event has taken place every following year to date, with Bassnectar performing from a rotating stage at the center of the arena which allowed every member of the audience get a fantastic view of his spectacular show. Bassnectar also performs regularly at a variety of music festivals, including Bonnaroo, Coachella, the Electric Daisy Carnival, Lollapalooza, and Wakarusa. In 2012 Bassnectar sold a quarter of a million concert tickets excluding festival performances.
Despite not having any real commercial success with his albums, Bassnectar has managed to create a community who have a shared adoration for his momentous electro and ambitious live performance which has been known to incorporate musical collaborators and circus performers.

Every sound emitted from the speakers during a Bassnectar set shatters the confines of reality and causes you to ascend to an otherworldly dimension of pure ecstacy. One never forgets their first Nectar show, and is forever changed after. No other artist can remotely achieve the level of energy and euphoria the crowd experienes during his sets, and no set is ever the same. I have seen Bassnectar going on 7 times now and my ridiculously high expectations are blown out of this world every, SINGLE, time I see him. Not only is his live show better than what you could even imagine, but he creates a certain sense of community among his fans at his concerts too, everyone looks out for each other, its really awesome to be a part of.

NYE 2016 was simply amazing. I felt like Lorin literally made his way through the crowd and shook each fan's hand. Aside from the bass shaking every part of Legacy Arena as our spaceship blasted off, the lights and visuals were some of the best I've ever witnessed. At multiple points throughout Glitch Mob's and Bassnectar's sets, the energy was undeniable as vibrations and bass racked your body. Incredible show, artistry, and way to ring in the new year!!

Bassnectar absolutely blew my mind as always. He is an amazing performer. He feeds off the crowd and is absolutely enchanting. He also cares a lot about his bass heads so he provides water and ear plugs for everyone. Making music makes him happy and you can see it in his magical performances. He's always changing things up and I love it. If you have never seen Lorin, I highly suggest you do.

NYE360 was the second most beautiful night of my life. Everything was perfect. The security was friendly & caring. The venue was completely beautiful. Bassnectar will always be a favorite. His music changes lives & I am very happy to say that I got to spend my NYE with him. This was my very first 360 and I cannot wait for round 2. Lorin Ashton is a beautiful human being.

Absolutely awesome show! Had to wait in line about two hours to get in so missed the first act (we got in line at 7:30). Tipper was on when we got inside and he was amazing - Just as good as Lorin, what a show! Best NYE of my life, well definitely do it again.
