Wow! You can’t see Methyl Ethel love and not leave on a high, satisfied completely by their performance.
Lead by Jake Webb, the show takes you through all their music, new and old, hits spread evenly through their more obscure tracks.
The lighting creates a mysterious atmosphere that sucks you into the dreamy world the band creates for you. Of particular note is how the band never stops playing the entire show - each song transitions into the next so the dream continues uninterrupted. Something I particularly loved and is unique to Methyl Ethel.
This is a band that loves performing live, evident from the way they congratulate each other and look so proud of themselves after each song. It’s infectious!
Money spent on a live Methyl Ethel should be seen as an investment - it will pay dividends in entertainment, magic music and an artistic performance that really sets them apart.
Tracks like Trip The Mains, Drink Wine and Idee Fixe really come alive when performed live, making you fall more and more in love with them.
Call me a groupie, but I’ll never miss a Methyl Ethel show in my town again. Worth it worth it worth it!
I have enjoyed Methyl Ethel since hearing a couple of tracks on 6 Music and was delighted to find them performing in a venue to which I shall be touring a theatre show in the Autumn. I found the prices amazingly good value for what I consider to be a very high class band. I was using the opportunity to inspect the venue in action and found it friendly professional and welcoming. The concert was absolutely outstanding and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was extraordinary being able to get that close to a band of this quality which made the experience even more of a pleasure. I have now been attending concerts on average once a month for the last 50 years and this was certainly one I shan't forget especially as the music had hints of Curved Air and early Pink Floyd in the complex and accomplished musicianship . These were amongst the first bands I saw in the late 1960s. Next time they are in this country I would expect them to be performing in an O2 Academy or similar size venue so I shall treasure the memory of last night in the Hare and Hounds.
A indescribable great gig - I have seen some bands but methyl Ethel really are a prospect for the future. Fun energetic yet clever and twisted. The notes that frontman Jake Webb can reach are truly remarkable.
The venue was at bursting point yet you could easily find spacious area. Only problem is the venue is very narrow so is a tight squeeze. Would recommend though. 9.9/10
The concert had an amazing atmosphere and the music was beyond great. Great set list and the live versions of the songs were so refreshing. I don’t think there was anyone who wasn’t bopping and singing along. Would definitely see them again!!
I LOVED METHYL ETHEL!! Even better in person! The band transitioned into the next songs so well and the singer had an even better voice then you’d think he does! If they had a concert again I’d go for sure!!
Am super glad I got to see yous in a nice small venue before it keeps getting larger.
Amazing gig. Great atmosphere. Tons of bangers to continuously jam to. Cant wait to see yous again!
These guys are great, they sound better live and the gigs are always very good. The last on at this venue Oslo in Hackney was good bur too short, it felt like it lasted less than an hour.
Excellent gig, not one back song in the set. Sound at the venue was excellent as was the band. Well worth seeing.
Looking forward to seeing them again 5/5 :)
